What's Available?

Explore the hardware and software available in the Language Space. Because each room is equipped differently, we encourage you to review the available technology before your visit. Instructional support is always available, including one-on-one consultations and individual or group training.

  • 42 Macbook Air (OS Tahoe 26 or later, and Sequoia XV on selected machines)
  • 50 Dell PCs

  • 32 headsets with USB connections
  • 32 headsets with 3.5mm audio/aux plug.

  • 8  Monitors (64.5-inch 4K Ultra HD LED-LCD TV Display) on casters for maximum room flexibility and screen mobilty. 

A browser-based language teaching platform used for in-person, hyflex or online language classes. Features include:

  • Advanced Speaking Practice: Run live pair or group discussions, assign role-play activities, and monitor multiple conversations simultaneously.
  • Two-Track Audio Recording: Students listen to native speaker audio and record their voice alongside it for immediate comparison.
  • No Apps or Installs: Students join instantly via a secure web link on any device (Chromebooks, tablets, laptops) without creating accounts.
  • Flexible Learning Modes: Teach in real-time with live audio/video streaming or assign self-paced, asynchronous lessons.
  • Interactive Exercises: Create custom tasks using your own videos, audio clips, text files, and PDFs.
  • Automated Feedback: Save time with built-in pronunciation grading and easy tools for oral assessments.

A collaborative classroom tool connecting all 8 screens in room SH 205. It allows teachers and students to easily share content with a group or the entire class, turning any room into an active, hands-on learning space. Features include:
  • Seamless Screen Sharing: Students wirelessly cast their laptops, tablets, or phones to their group's display simultaneously.
  • Teacher-Controlled Screens: Use a simple drag-and-drop app to instantly send any student's screen to the main projector or to other groups.
  • Interactive Collaboration: Multiple students can share content on the same screen at once to compare data, edit text, or brainstorm.
  • Broadcast Announcements: Send quick alerts or instructions directly to every screen in the room to keep your lesson on track.
  • Hybrid-Ready: Connects seamlessly with Zoom or Teams so remote students can see and share content on the classroom displays.

Developed by SDSU-LARC, LinguaForm is a specialized formative assessment software application designed to help teachers track and evaluate real-world student speaking proficiency and goals. Features include:
  • Targeted oral assessments
  • Customizable speaking tasks
  • Rich feedback tools
  • Currently supports Spanish, English, Arabic, Chinese, and Portuguese languages.
  • Proficiency-focused growth, ideal for classrooms moving away from simple grading toward long-term, goal-oriented student performance tracking.

To request additional software for use during your class or event, please reach out to our Learning Technologies Coordinator, Mari Ocando Finol at [email protected]. 

For faculty: If requiring additional software only on the instructor's device, as an alternative solution, it is recommended to bring your own laptop with the installed third-party software and use the provided display connector in the classroom. 

Note: Additional software that is not campus-supported cannot be installed on SDSU stated-owned devices based on SDSU IT Security Office guidelines.
